A Brief Look at the University - Regent University
In this university and university degree evaluation, I take a quick look and examine Regent University and their degree programmes and courses. Regent University is rather different from most other universities evaluated here on this universities review site. It is a private, co-ed, interdenominational Christian university based in Virginia in the USA. Regent University offers various forms of degrees, from associate degrees to doctoral degrees, in various fields of study. Regent University is also accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and also by the Association of Theological Schools.
It would be nice to say that there are no known controversies for Regent University, however, that is not true. Regent University is not known to be a very good university, as reported by various organisations - the US News and World Report ranked the school of law as Tier 4, the lowest ranking within law school rankings categories. That is not all. Regent University has also low rates of passing in law where students find it difficult to pass the Virginia State Bar exam. Regent University's records in the field of law are very bad.
In addition, Regent University has also many other controversies, which may or may not be true, or which may or may not be damaging to its reputation. Some identify Regent University as a conversative right wing place.
Wikipedia also reports that Regent University had a counselling programme controversy in 2007, as well as a freedom of expression controversy, also in 2007. The standard of Regent University was also called into question when it was found out that students, despite getting poor grades, got accepted into the Bush administration because of their Christian credentials and not because of academic merit or academic ability. This was the major controvery since the other controversies surrounding Regent University. My usual caveat applies - more research is necessary before making a choice or a judgement.

Regent University provides a Christian environment, so if that is a major consideration for you, then Regent University might be a place that you can consider seriously. At the same time, Regent University provides the usual flexibility of learning at your own pace via online learning and has many available courses and degree programmes, from associates to doctoral degrees. However, the controversies might be something damaging to reputation and that might pose a slight problem. I think that it is more prudent to examine other universities that offer similar environments to Regent University first, then make a final comparison. In any case, I reserve my judgement on Regent University - I won't recommend it, but I honestly don't think that Regent University is that bad either.

All in all, this is a good university and I strongly recommend it for masters programmes due to the academic rigour and quality; and nursing because it is accredited, excellent, and a better way to pursue an outstanding nursing education. American InterContinental University (AIU Online) is a private, profit driven university by the Career Education Corporation in the USA. It was originally founded and established as the American College of Applies Arts. It is currently accredited by the Southern Assocation of Colleges and Schools and awards associate degrees, basic bachelors degrees, and masters degrees as well. No PhD online degrees are offered though, only basic and masters.
However, it should be noted that in 2005 and 2007 American InterContinental University (AIU Online) was investigated for its student recruitment practices which did not conform to US regulations nor to accreditation practices. There are also many controversies surrounding American InterContinental University (AIU Online), but that should not detract us from research and understanding what it does and what it offers the student. Nonetheless I would honestly consider other options against American InterContinental University (AIU Online) to see which is the best outcome for myself. Just to mention, it has both a campus branch and an online branch, so if you lived nearby you might want to have a look at the campus to see if the physical reality reflected what you know or have researched about it.
Which courses are offered
The problem with the courses is that while the following are offered, not all of them are offered at the physical campus nor online, according to my research. Nonetheless the general courses and programmes offered are:
business, fashion, interior design, media production, visual communication,
and hence it seems clearly that the applied arts are indeed the main strength of American InterContinental University's (AIU Online) courses and programmes. You might want to have a look at the specfic websites in order to determine which programmes they do offer. In addition, there is a American InterContinental University (AIU Online) website for London, America and even Dubai (the first two are operational, but the Dubai one seems to be missing!). The online degree website for AIU might be worth having a long hard look at, and both London and US websites offer basically the same materials but are just labelled differently.
Finance and other matters
As this is a private university and is totally for profit, the costs are rather high and similar to other private universities offering the same type of courses in media and fashion. There is of course the usual tuition cost per credit hour and the total programme cost, which are around: $200 to $500 for cost per credit hour and $20,000 to more than $30,000 for the whole programme. It should be observed also, in general, that all online courses actually save you money on the travelling, living costs and other similar fees. Military students and international students may get different rates, according to the website. There is financial aid available and there are Financial Aid Advisors who will be willing to help you out in your online education funding.
Why you should study there or my personal recommendations
American InterContinental University (AIU Online) may have many controversies surrounding it, but it seems to have strengths in the fashion and design field, primarily the applied arts field basically. If you are considering a career in that kind of field then it may make sense to consider American InterContinental University (AIU Online) rather seriously. In addition, the admission standards are apparently low, according to Wiki and independent research, so that would mean that if you have bad grades, this might be a university to consider, perhaps. This university is not as clear cut as some of the more outstanding and really good universities, so I will actually reserve a recommendation type of judgement on this one overall. American InterContinental University (AIU Online) deserves more research and more looking into before consideration. Clearly Kaplan and Phoenix are better in terms of range and in terms of reputation, credibility and the like, but this is not to say that American InterContinental University (AIU Online) should not be one of your choices.
